The Singles Boxset was a way that the record company found to squeeze a bit more juice from the general interest on Nirvana (partially boosted by Kurt’s death).
A small quantity was released with a “Nevermind” patch. I saw this for sale months later after the box was released, so maybe not a first edition, but an random edition to clear stock(?)
